The name killer whale does not mean it will kill people.

Bottle nosed dolphins are the most common dolphins.
Female dolphins are called cows, males are called bulls and young dolphins are called calves.
Dolphins are believed to be very intelligent.
Dolphins have excellent eyesight hearing as well.

Red panda

Red pandas are omnivores (eats both plants and animals).

Giraffes are the tallest land animal in the wold.
Both male and female giraffes have horns but the females are smaller and covered with hair.
Giraffes need to spread their legs apart and bend their neck down to drink water.

Hamsters can be pets.
Hamsters are very good diggers.
Wild hamsters feed mainly on seeds, fruit, vegetables, and sometimes insects.
Hamsters do not have good eyesight.

Since ants can bite, anteaters must eat them quickly.
Anteaters have poor eyesight, but they have excellent sense of smell.

The red kangaroo is the biggest marsupial in the world.


Newt

Newts can regrow limbs, eyes, spinal cords, hearts, intestines and upper and lower jaws!
The great crested newt, Britain's largest amphibian, can grow twice as big as other newts - up to 18 cm long.
 Male smooth newts have a smaller crest to display to females.
Female newts lay one egg at a time.
The main predators of young newts and the eggs (and of most of their pond life ) are fish. 

Ibex

Ibexes are hunted by bears, leopards, eagles and humans.
Ibexes like to take naps on sunny rocks during the day.
In the wild, ibexes only live up to 10 to 18 years.

Ibexes weigh between 140 and 220 pounds.

Tuna can swim at speeds of up to 70 kph (43 mph)

Hyena

Female hyenas give birth to 2 to 4 cubs in a litter.
Hyenas have great night vision allowing them to see in the dark.
Hyenas are considered to be very intelligent.
Hyenas don't need to drink a lot of water they can go days without water if needed.
Although hyenas look like dogs, they are actually more like cats.
There are 3 species of hyena there is brown, spotted and striped.
Hyenas were domesticated and raised for food in Ancient Egypt.

Bat

There are over 1000 different bat species.
Bats can see in the dark using a special skill called echolocation.
Most bats feed on insects, while others feed on fruit, fish or even blood!
There are 3 species of vampire bats.
Some bats live by themselves.

Elephant

There are two types of elephant, the Asian elephant and the African elephant (although the African elephant is sometimes split into two species, the African Forest Elephant and  the Bush Elephant).
Elephants are the largest land-living mammal in the world.
Both female and male African elephants have tusks but only the male Asian elephants have tusks.
Female elephants are called cows.
Elephants have large, thin ears.


King Cobra

King cobras are the only snakes that build nests for its eggs.
Female king cobras will guard the eggs.
King cobras live to around 20 years old.
King cobras are one of the most deadly snakes because of the large amount of venom they spread when they bite.
King cobras shed their snakeskin 4 to 6 times a year.

Cat

There are over 500 million domestic cats in the world.
Cats conserve energy by sleeping for an average of 13 to 14 hours a day.
Cats have flexible bodies and teeth adapted for hunting small animals such as mice and rats.
A group of cats called a clowder, a male cat is called a tom, a female is called a molly or queen while young cats are called kittens.
Domestic cats usually  weigh around 4 kilograms (8 lb 13 oz ) to 5 kilograms ( 11 lb 0 oz).

Parrot

There are around 372 different parrot species.
Most parrots live in tropical areas.
Parrots have curved bills (beaks),strong legs and clawed feet.
Parrots are believed to be the most intelligent bird species.
Parrots such as the budgerigar (budgie) and cockatiel are popular as pets.
Some parrot species can live for over 80 years.



Hedgehog

There are 17 species of hedgehog.
They are found in parts of Europe, Asia, Africa and were introduced in New Zealand by settlers.
Hedgehogs are nocturnal.
Hedgehogs are not related to the other spine covered creatures.
Hedgehogs have about 5,000 to 6,500 spines at any one time. 


Wombat

Wombat poop is shaped like a cube.
Wombats are second largest marsupials in Australia.
Wombats dig underground burrows that can be 100 feet long.
Wombats spray urine, rub their scent on the nearby trees and use droppings to mark their territory.
Wombats are nocturnal animals ( active during the night ).

Horse

Horses can sleep both lying down and standing up.
Horses can run shortly after birth.
Domestic horses have a lifespan of around 25 years.
A 19th century horse named Old billy is said to have lived 62 years.
Horses have around 205 bones in their skeleton.

Mexican Walking Fish

Meet the Mexican walking fish! Also known as the axolotl, this underwater relative of the salamander is very cute but currently endangered. 

Mexican walking fish come from the waterways near Mexico City. They are very popular among fish tank owners. I want to have one as a pet.

The Mexican walking fish lives an average of 10 years, but some can live to be up to 20 years old. They swallow small pebbles, which helps them to float.
